Today I spent the day at home, boring I know, but I was with a friend recording a song! Which was kind of cool, but also distracting. In fact, it was so distracting that I sort of... kind of... er... forgot to ah... wear a mo? I KNOW!! i'm sorry! But I know some guys have already shaved theirs off, they just waited til after the movember party and then it was gone! In fact, some didn't even last that long, one of my friends didn't even last like a week or so... so I think I haven't done too badly... :/
So I thought I would spend this blog going into a little more detail about the Movember Gala Parte. I realised I didn't really explain it in full, but rather gave a very brief overview. So we (being me and my cousin, aka my mo sista hehe) arrived at the venue around 8.30-9ish and it was already fairly rockin' – there were costumes of grandeur everywhere, from army cadets to mexicans, to buzz lightyears! In fact, there were a whole group of buzz lightyears – it was amazing! The event took place in a massive marquee tent down on Birrarung Marr, and outside beyond the tents were the toilets as well as a... wait for it... BUMPER CARS RINK!! thats right, bumper cars. Jealous? I bet. Me and my cousin, Vic, went on the bumper cars and unfortunately not everything came out as it went in, as we were stuck in reverse my hat was thrown off my head and then reversed into by the car about 5 times. However, it did straighten out back to near perfect form again by the end of the night. It was such an interesting night, as people were usually only there with a few friends, so the whole night was spent meeting people and discussing mo experiences and costume inspirations and such. There was of course an awards ceremony, only by that time everyone was so drunk that they really weren't all that impressed and to be honest, there were a few better costumes out there than the ones that were nominated, in my opinion. But oh! It was such a wonderful night, full of fun and laughter and friendly people. I definitely cannot wait until next years, this is a party not to be missed.
Anyway, I will surely make it up to you tomorrow, on my last day of mo-dom. It will be epic. I think.

Day 26, 27 & 28
Ok so i'm putting these 3 days together because it's easier! Friday during the day was pretty chill, I just went to university, and I wore these new bracelets I made! I love them, but I kept breaking them so they're a bit dead :( THEN, friday night we had a lovely thanksgiving dinner with Shelli, who is living with me at the moment, and her friend Katy and Katy's dad and my cousin Vic and her boyf, and my sister and her boyf and mum and dad! It was such a beautiful night, really wonderful company and an excellent feast :)

Then on Saturday I had work, and then the Movember Gala Parte!! It was AH. MAH. ZING!!! I had so much fun, and met so many wonderful people, drank way too much and did too many crazy things, and suffered today, Day 28 with a horrible hangover which I had to endure throughout work (which was only a 3 hour shift, mind you :P) and now i'm at home about to get ready to go out for Pho! So i'll leave you with photos of my Movember events and I'll get a photo of my current mo at the restaurant later tonight!:

Day 26
Today was a very chill out day, I had uni and I kind of rushed out of the house so once again I wore my mo hair clip (i'll have a new creation tomorrow I promise!), and I even lost it at one point, I thought I must have brushed it out of my hair, i'm not entirely sure what happened but I found it in the end so all was well! I also received another donation from one of my sisters workmates. At this point I think I should probably thank the people who have donated to me so far, so thank you:
Amanda Wilson,
Lizzy Wilson,
Steve Dolan,
Ali Curry and
Narelle Brewer
Your contributions mean the world to me and I know they're going to something positive thats working towards helping people who don't often get a look in! So now i'm going to finish up this blog with another plug of my mospace, in case this encourages you to donate: Click on this text to see my mospace!

Day 24
Today, i spent the day with a friend and we went out shopping, and because it was such a lovely day i decided to feature one of my delicious singlet tops as my mo today! I can't decide which of the singlets is my favourite, i love them all a lot, they're so cute! So i'm up to $152 in my mospace for donations which i'm very happy about, and i have procured a second ticket to the Movember Gala Parte, so now i just have to find myself a date! When i say i procured it, i mean one of my friends who is also doing movember gave me his second ticket (thanks Pete!!). I think i'm going to go as Charlie Chaplin! i'm very excited about this party :) :)

Day 23

Today was pretty chill... didn't do much but a lot of homework for my short course! I have so much to do... why do I procrastinate so much? My own laziness is coming to be the bane of my existence these days! Well, I had the best idea of writing a note in my mo today! I thought it was hilarious and had a good photo session with it :) I'm still not sure what i'll dress as for this movember party – chances are i'll get to the day and have nothing so i'll just go as something random! That sounds quite likely to be honest...

Day 20, 21 & 22
Back in Melbourne again after some serious family duty in SA. I didn't really whip my camera out much but I did get one shot of myself out the front of a building in the town we stayed in. I'm getting very excited about the Gala event this saturday night, it says we should come in a costume that expresses how our mo's make us feel... well i'm not really sure I guess mine just makes me feel a bit manly, so... should I go as a man? I guess... maybe I should as a drag queen with a 5 o'clock shadow! Ha! Or a circus woman – you know the amazing bearded lady? Thats a good one!! What do you think? I haven't yet reached the $200 threshold yet so I don't really have a partner... maybe i'll get there by friday! You never know! :) until tomorrow, when I share with you yet another motastic moventure :)

Day 19

Today I was at uni! Just kickin' it with the old kids at Monash, it was a lovely day, so sunny and bright! A little too hot for my liking, but guess what? I got a new phone! My old phone had been playing up, I couldn't hear anything unless it was on loudspeaker, which ended up just being awkward because then wherever I went people could hear both sides of my conversations! Ah! So I got a new phone, a Sony Ericsson Xperia 10 – it's really good! It's basically like an iPhone but using Android software, which is awesome because it comes with all the features that I love about iPhones (am I starting to sound like an advertising campaign? My apologies, I just love my new phone!). So anyway, i'm going away this weekend on family business, so I may be out of contact until I get back! My new phone has facebook on it, but who knows what kind of reception i'll get on the outskirts of SA? Until we meet again :)
Day 17 and 18
Day 18
Today I went to university in one of my new singlets! It was a good day, not too many looks because it's not really as bold a statement as mo on the face but nevertheless it was there!

Day 17

Today I ventured out with a ranga mo! I went to my friend Teresa's house and got a lot of funny looks on the train. We ventured out thrice, once to the shops where the lovely man at the coles check out thought it was absolutely hilarious that I was wearing a mo, once to Tee's mums house where the next door neighbour was inspired to rant on and on about how 'kids do crazy things these days' and then to camberwell where I visited two shops where I had previously been with my mo on. Now, by this time my poor excuse for face paint had just about done its dash, so I took it off and realising all we had were a few pens, substituted my ranga mo for a finger mo, so when these store workers saw me both posed the question: 'wheres your mo??' to which I craftily held my finger to my lip and grinned. I wish my facepaint had been better though...

Day 16

Today was nice! A really pretty sunny day :) I spent the day watching Lion King and Lion King II and looking at my homework wondering weather or not I should start it (for your information... I didn't) and just basically relaxing! But! I have some really exciting news – Thanks to my mum, my sister and a family friend i've now raised $132 for Movember! Which, while really exciting in itself, also means that I have been sent a free ticket to the Movember Gala Parte which i'm really excited about – that should be so much fun! And once i've raised over $200, i'll be sent another ticket! Yay :) Another mildly exciting thing is that I received an email from Grill'd after i'd raised over $40 which said I could now get a free burger everyday – yay for free burgers! Woop woop! So that's my news for the day. I'll finish this blog by urging that you donate to Movember, not just because I wouldn't mind having someone I know at this party, but also because it is such an amazing cause, and I think I really needs our support! Once again, here is the link to my mospace – so please donate!

Day 10 - 15 (My Apologies!!)
Hey guys, i'm so sorry i've been losing track of my time lately and I haven't been blogging! Naught mo girl!! but i've written up my events for the last 5 days so i'll post them all in one big post now, starting from Day 15 (today) and going backwards down to Day 10!
Day 15: Today I went shopping with some of my friends in the city, and I wore my hair clip again! It was such a cold and dreary day and I forgot my cardi so I tended to come out in goosebumps any time we were outside! But it was a great day, AND I got my vote in early which is a bonus so I don't have to worry about it later! Woo :)

Day 13 & 14: I'm sorry guys, but this weekend I was just not able to bring out my mo! I had work on both days, not too sure my boss would be very happy if I rocked up in a mo to a job where I dress up as a fairy! Ah! Plus both nights I had functions on – Saturday night was my dad's valedictory dinner (i'm so proud of him!) and on Sunday night I had a work dinner. So, alas, the mo did not show over the weekend but it will be back up and running tomorrow!! :) yay!
Day 12: Today was much different to yesterday. I sported a cute little hair clip moustache in my hair today, I really love it I think this one may crop up again later down the track! I think I got a few odd stares from people, because it's a bit odd! Uni was so draining, I was just exhausted, especially after dinner and drinks with the work gang last night. I did get to teach a lesson to the class though, and we learnt a lot about the lesson styles expected of us (in case I haven't already mentioned, I'm doing a uni short course at Monash in teaching music! Yay!). Yet another long bus ride home and then I went out and saw my friend's drama performance and had a few drinks! Another lovely night :)

Day 11: I wore two different types of mo's today! At uni I wore a tshirt with a mo on it, and then when I went out later I drew a mo on my finger and held it up to my face all night! It was saweeet! I had a really good day today, uni was great, going out was great! So much fun and excitement had I really cannot complain :) I didn't get photographic proof but my friend Dulce did so i'll have to bug her about getting the photos so I can put one up!
Day 10: Today I had a job interview! It went really well, so i'm quite pleased with it, I chucked on a mo as soon as I got home and strutted around the house in my mo-liness! So i'm basically a third of the way through this thing so far... I should let you know that i've raised $92 so far thanks to my darling mother :) So hopefully more mo'ney shall be donated soon – I think it's such a great cause, I really do.

Day 9
Today was so lovely! I actually had the most positive day for Movember so far! I ventured out to Camberwell in search of some staple clothing and to pick up my tickets for the midnight session of Harry Potter (Cannot WAIT!!) and I couldn't believe the positivity in the air! It was as if everyone had seen my rant yesterday and decided to change their ways! You know how in the movies, when someone is really happy and the day is bright and blue, everyone who passes them has a twinkle in their eye? And everyone smiles at them and nothing is negative? That's what today was like. I was approached by heaps of people who inquired about my mo, a man on the street asked if I was trying to out-mo him: my response was 'of course I am!', a few people in Target spoke to me too and all agreed that they thought it was a great idea and that more women should get involved. This has really put me in a positive mindset about Movember! It makes me feel like what I am doing has a valid point, and I'm not just being silly and a total embarrassment to myself! On that note, I am going to leave you with the link to my Movember space, and I highly encourage you, if not urge you, to donate to Movember through my Mospace!! This is just about the only mens charity that really draws peoples attentions, and we give so much to charities focusing on breast cancer and womens health, it's about time we gave back to our men!

Day 8

Well! Today was a complete change from yesterday! Today I wore a mo, out on the streets. Many odd glances ensued. Many people stared at me with jaws to the floor. It was quite unnerving. And you know what it left me thinking? Australia – lighten up! Smile more! So many people were looking at me as if I was committing a crime or some act of indecency! I was just wearing a mo on my face for goodness sakes! I even had one guy walk past me and mutter 'you have something on your face' and then piss himself laughing with his friend once they were past. Um, hello? I'm doing this for you! Hopefully tomorrow will be different, but i'm not holding my breath.

Day 7

12.40: i'm at uni today, and sitting around in the cafeteria at the moment on my own. Today marks the first of my inventive moustaches – like, ones that I don't wear on my face! :) I love my mo necklace, i'm thinking of making another one for later in the month with a different twist on it.
2:35: my necklace is breaking!! nooo!! i'll have to go home and iron the other side of it so it's stronger
My necklace did break in the end... which was a very sad moment, I shed a tear. Not really. So today was good, I enjoyed uni – public transport took a while though, on a sunday, which was really my major downfall. But on the mo front, nothing was too sus I guess, because I wasn't wearing it on my face...
Saturday, November 6, 2010
Day 6
Today I was at work, so... I couldn't wear my mo :( but I chucked it on as soon as I got home! I swear! Me and mum picked up my friend Shelli from the air port, she's been staying with us recently and bought us the cutest mug from sydney! Then me and liz (my sister) had a photo sesh, I didn't realise how similar we really looked until these photos, they make us look like two peas in a pod! Our cousins were over for dinner, so we had a really lovely big family oriented night – it was so lovely :)

Day 5
Tomorrow will be different. I swear, tomorrow I am going to work and going out for drinks, and it will be different to the days I've been having cooped up in my house, nursing myself back to health. Granted, I don't think I can wear my mo during work – as much as it is for a good cause, it isn't really professional. So maybe I should list some of my ideas as to where it is and is not suitable to wear my moustaches.
Where a mo can go:
around my house
with my friends
to uni
on shopping trips
to parties
many other places
Where a mo is a no go:
during work
at a job interview
funerals
professional functions
Now, Movember isn't just a cause for raising awareness, it's actually also run in order to raise money for work into prostate cancer. So, if you're feeling generous you should donate to Movember through my mospace (this just means that they will recognise that your donation is supporting my efforts as well as others): au.movember.com/mospace/762366/
My mother, sister and grandfather have already said they will sponsor me, so hopefully you do too! :)

Day 4
So today I watched most of Offspring again, I played around on my ukulele, I listened to music, knitted, facebooked, blogged and just mucked around. Today was an absolute bore! I'm so ready to get over this sickness and get out and show off my mo to everyone! This is not how I expected to kickstart this ridiculous adventure!

Day 3

Woo hoo, being home bound is so much fun! Seeing as my day is probably not going to get much more interesting than this, I decided I would write my blog now - due to boredom and lack of entertainment (which is, inherently, the same thing - is it not?). I have spent the day lounging around in my living room, eating various things I have found around the place (edible things, mind you), continuing the knitting of a scarf I have come to realise is going to take me almost forever to knit, whilst listening to Vladimir Nabokov's Lolita in audio book format read by Jeremy Irons - hence my slightly more elated writing style today. I went out in the garden for a little while and sat in the... uh... sun, and hung out with my dogs too. I am ridiculously annoyed at the fact that the 6th episode of glee wont be airing today in America in order for me to watch it online this afternoon - I should have been able to see it by now! This is just another of the many things added to my list of things I am waiting impatiently for. So now, I am at home, sick and bored and without company. I think I'll play my ukulele for a while - which is also slightly unsatisfying because I can't sing along! Ah, such is life... until tomorrow.

Day 2
So today I spent the day at home, nursing my terror of a migraine until it traveled to my throat and became a throat ache, which I then ended up nursing for the rest of the day. Why? Why so sick? I actually stopped talking because my throat was so sore. Nevertheless, I still managed to traipse around the house in my mo – I was channeling my inner old man today as I wore a big fat grey mo. It was pretty funny, my family couldn't take me seriously in it, which was a little frustrating at times too. And so, after a rather uneventful day including 4 chick flicks and winning $30 in my work's sweep for the Melbourne Cup, I think its time for bed for a bit of RNR. Until tomorrow :)

Monday, November 1, 2010
Day 1
9:11am - I am sitting on the bus, and it's just a little bit embarrassing, i think a few people have spotted my mo... so i'm definitely drawing some attention. I'm just very nervous for today, I don't know why, I guess this is the commencement of a month of lending my face to Movember. But i'm confident that what i'm doing is for a good cause, so in the end – who cares?

10:15am – I'm sitting in class, I just had to explain that I was partaking in Movember, which is not the coolest introduction when it's your second first day an everyone you're meeting in this class is for the first time – but it's aiight now! My teacher thinks it's great so thats cool :)

Ok so, this is about as far as I got with the diary of my day, because at about 12:30 that day I ended up having to get my dad to pick me up from uni on account of feeling exceptionally ill – trust me, it was not fun. I think I spent the next 18 hours in bed, trying to sleep off the most horrible head ache i've ever encountered – which did not work, it was consistently pounding in my head the whole time. I'm only now feeling up to doing anything remotely strenuous after a heroic dosage of aspro-clear has, for the most part, gotten rid of my throbbing head and sore throat. Mum thinks I may have an infection – yay! (did you pick up on the sarcasm?). She also thinks it may have been something to do with Movember, that maybe I had an anxiety attack or something. I'm beginning to wonder if she may be right. I don't want to give up on this – how could I pike out after one day? Thats totally lame. So I thought I might change it up a bit – rather than wear a mo on my face everyday I thought I could wear it in a different way – you know, like the old finger mo gag? I have a few ideas up my sleeve. My sister is also going to make me a proper badge to wear around! So for now, i'm just trying to relax and get better, I may have to see a doctor tomorrow, and i'll be planning out some of my next mo'ventures :)
